4 Great Dental Hygiene Tips

4 Great Dental Hygiene Tips

Your smile is one of the first things people notice about you when they are talking to you.

Everyone wants to have a great smile and there are ways to help ensure that happens.

Good oral hygiene habits are important to achieving a beautiful smile.

Below are some tips that JT Dental recommends when it comes to your oral health!

Brush twice per day!

It is important to brush your teeth twice per day.

Why do we need to brush twice per day?

Brushing in the morning helps to moisten your mouth and to also freshen our breath.

Brushing in the evening helps to clean off all the food that we have consumed throughout the day.

Make sure you brush all surfaces of the teeth.

Also make sure you are brushing for about 2 minutes.

You can use either a manual toothbrush or an electric toothbrush.

Visit your dentist regularly!

Jt Dental recommends that you visit the dentist at least every 6 months.

This ensures that we can check and clean your teeth.

A regular scale and clean appointment not only cleans your teeth, but your gums too!

Checking your teeth regularly helps us to identify any small holes before they become a pain.

Use the correct brushing techniques!

Jt Dental recommends that you brush your teeth in small circular motions.

You should use a toothbrush that has a SOFT head and toothpaste that has fluoride.

You should also give your gums a gentle brush as well.

Don’t forget to brush your tongue!

Your tongue can harbour bacteria and germs that can contribute to cavities.

Do not rinse your mouth AFTER you brush.

Rinsing your mouth after brushing removes all the protective properties from the toothpaste.

Don’t forget to floss!

Jt Dental recommends that you floss at least once per day.

Flossing helps to clean inbetween the teeth.

Your toothbrush will not fit inbetween the teeth.

These are common areas to get cavities or dental decay.

If you can’t use the string floss, you can try the floss sticks or Piksters.

Make sure you are gentle! You can cause gum damage if you are too rough when flossing.
